It's showtime for Assam..

So the 33rd National Games is finally underway. Despite the bomb explosion in Kamakhya on the inauguration day morning i.e. last Friday (9th Feb 07), everything went as scheduled. Sonia Gandhi declared the Games open amid much fanfare in the newly constructed Indira Gandhi stadium at Sarusajai. IOA chief Suresh Kalmadi was also present for the five-hour inaugural ceremony conducted by events management firm Wizcraft showcasing the spirit & culture of Assam. He announced the host state may be given the opportunity to host the Saarc Games, infront of an audience of 30000. That’s another positive thing we can look forward to. Tarun Gogoi, our chief minister has really done a good job in coming up with international standard infrastructure and putting up the show despite the many odds.

Let’s not forget the Games is still on and the security is a major concern. Mr Chief Minister please sit tight and not let anyone to ruin the games. Although ULFA has withdrawn the boycott threat to the Games, the Kamakhya blast took place. What a irony, showcasing ‘amaar axom’ under the shawdow of the gun..

Do away with the insurgency problem and the ‘Northeast’ will be paradise on Earth. Why do you take a gun and kill innocent people?? Do you think a sovereign Assam will bring in prosperity to the land?? We are a part of the republic of India, let’s turn on the tide and take Assam forward. There’s no point saying the ‘central government’ is discriminating against the ‘northeast’. Let’s all join hands and work together for a ‘prosperous’ Assam. Take the help of masses through talks/writings, not the gun and create a roar so that the ‘central government’ takes notice of us. Let’s leave the horrible past behind and work for a ‘brighter’ future…

love's in d' air..

Valentine's day is approaching and everyone is getting into the mood. Only minutes ago i was reading a thread in one of the ORKUT communities about "the first date". Me too made an entry into the thread and here i present my idea of a "perfect date".

ya my first date.first let me put in some special effects.thr will b fallen leaves so fragile tht they crumble with the slightest touch.the sun is at the horizon all set to go down and bring on the starry night.the birds will b singing their way bak to their nests.down beneath the tall trees thr will b two souls walking the lovely,dark n deep woods as in the Robert Frost poem.tht will b me n my lady love, walking hand in hand and the leaves crumble n rustle beneath our feet n leave a trail of crumbled leaves.the trail is a testimony of two love birds having been thr and which will slowly disappear by the elements o nature.thn suddenly the sky gets dark n it starts to rain.lovely.she opens up her umbrella and we continue thru the woods.i take off my pullover n giv it 2 her.i m left at the mercy of the freezing wind n rain.the cold brings on goose pimples on my skin but they disappear as her breath still so warm, caresses my skin.we walk into my house.she looks even more beautiful in her unkept hair as she dries her silky hair with a towel.i quickly prepare two cups o coffee{hav this feelin tht coffee is more romantic thn tea},thn we go upstairs n sit under the glass roof.i hold her in my arms n we go on talking lookin into each othrs eyes.wht happnd to the cups o coffee??well we forget those during our sweet talk n thn we feel real hungry.both o us go to the kitchn,prepare a small meal and hav a romantic candlelight dinner.aftr tht we do the dishes and thn suddenly her phone rings n she says “I’ll hav 2 leave, chalti huun main”. I say “jaldi hai kya”.thrs a ring again.thts my alarm clock.its time I get up frm my dream of a perfect date.

I knw the real thing will not b such,but its just her presence tht will make the moment special.whn she’ll not be wid me,I’ll hav her in my dreams thinking for my nxt date wid her.
