I have been tagged by Shayon. So I will have to write 100 points about myself. So fasten your seat belts for the ride to 100..
- Name: Rathindra Ranjan Chetia
- Age: 22 years
- Sun sign: Scorpio
- Status: Single
- Languages I can speak: Assamese, Hindi, English and little bits & pieces of Bengali and Oriya
- Smoking & Drinking: Neither
- Currently Doing: Being the guinea pig of mom, she experiments all her beauty therapies on me. I am at home waiting for my call from the company.
- I wasted a lot of time in fact three login sessions to decide on a structure to reach the 100 mark. That's why I'll go on with random points.
- From random, I just randomly pick a book and read it.
- From book, currently I am reading 'Pride & Prejudice' and 'Life of Pi'.
- From 'Pride & Prejudice', it starts with the famous line "It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife".
- My abridged version, "It may become a truth universally acknowledged, that a single young man in possession of a moderate fortune must be in want of a girlfriend". [;-)]
- From single, there's just a single tree on top of the flat-top hill in front of my house. It looks very spooky on a raining night, it coming to life for split seconds during the lightnings accompanied by loud thunders.
- From spooky, I remember a friend telling me to sing songs in case you are alone and scared of ghosts. That was in 4th or 5th standard.
- From scared, I was very scared of watching 'Alif Laila' as a small kid.
- Now I am scared of snakes. Since last few days they are everywhere; on Discovery, News channels and of course in the thick green growth of the monsoon days.
- From TV shows, my first memory of watching a TV program was 'Johnny Sokko and his Giant robot' aired on Doordarshan in early 90s.
- I like cartoons, my favorite being Timon & Pumbaa.
- I hate Japanese toons, all these Pokeman & stuff.
- A secret tip, if you want to befriend a kid, gift him a 'Beyblade'.
- I love football, no I am not the one who can discuss the game at lengths but can play it all day through.
- I once thought of becoming a Footballer when in 7th standard.
- Pause in thought process..I need a break.
- From break, I like to see the ads shown on TV nowadays. Indian ad-makers are finally coming of age, specially like the 'baal baal bach gaye', 'laalach aah lap lap' & unusually the Pepsi 'what a top ka' ad.
- I have lived at many places and I have attended 8 schools from kinder gardens to 12th standard. So you can call me a 'local' globetrotter.
- I don't like sitting idle and thats why I am always doing/planning something or the other.
- I like to shed some sweat in the evening.
- I love 'kaju Barfi' very much.
- I love cycling. I once cycled non-stop from hostel via XLRI and then finally stopping at 'Gangour Sweets' in Bistupur. It was the temptation of having 'Kaju Barfis' that I made the trip in the first place. (Raj can you do the route & tell me the Kilometers)
- It's still a long way to 100. 'Le Tour de Jamshedpur' was easy..
- I watch 'Le Tour de France' just to have a glimpse of the beautiful French countryside and the helicopter shots of the cyclists with relative motion effects.
- As a child I was in awe of the mighty Brahmaputra. I even have a dream since then of a huge dam across it and have even thought of a name, BHP (Brahmos Hydel Project).
- Five years back, I thought of adding various rivers to a list over which I have walked across on a bridge. As of now only the Saraighat bridge over Brahmaputra and Rabindra Setu over Hooghly river is on my list.
- Mahanadi will soon come on my list. I also tried for the Vidyasagar setu, once again over Hooghly, but a security man stopped us(ya I took some friends along), after we'd walked a considerable distance on the speedway on the approach to the bridge.
- The 'Yuva' movie crew had taken special permission to shoot on the bridge.
- I can write english in 'Lateral Inversion' style i.e. 'mirror-image' style.
- You might be thinking 'kya ye ladka bekaar ke cheez karta rehtaa hai'.
- I do not get angry easily & my anger is short-lived.
- I have a very sensitive nervous system, just a gentle pat on my back and you might get an impulsive slap. It just happens. Don't ever try it.
- I really have an inclination to people who can take my name properly on our first meeting as 'rathindra' instead of 'rathindar'.
- Most people on first meeting think of me as a 'south Indian'.
- I have been having a diary for each year since 4th standard though it turned into a 'Personal diary' only since 2002.
- I certainly believe 'duniya gol hai' and you keep on meeting people from your past at some point or the other.
- I love the movie 'Dil Chahta Hai' and its my fav movie along with 'Forrest Gump'.
- A Madrasi says "I want to see the movie Heart is an umbrella". Can you guess which movie..................................................."Dil Chataa Hai".
- I cannot repeat the words "Massachusetts" and "Chancellor Chess".
- You will notice something unusual when I say the words "Sakchi" and "Takiya".
- Do ghantey ho gaye and still not at the half-way mark.
- I hit more sixes than fours in cricket.
- For every missed reverse shot there will definitely be a sixer on the next ball.
- I started watching cricket from 1996 world cup and it lasted only till 2003 world cup.
- Even though football makes people scary of pushes & tackles resulting in injuries, I fractured my ankle not in a game of football but cricket.
- I and my brother have a complimentary call sign to identify each other. In case we are lost in the filmy 'kumbh ka mela' !!
- I like songs of Kishore, Lucky Ali, Bryan Adams & Zubin.
- I prefer Beatles to rock music.
- Since I have gone through all the songs in my PC n number of times, I who doesn't have any inclination to rock music, started listening to Pink Floyd. I have now become a fan of the group. Their live shows are amazing.
- I have seen a few Live shows and I particularly liked the first one by the Pakistani duo of "Strings".
- I have made only one successful kite till date.
- I am an 'efficient' cook.
- I think I should go and take a bath.
- Google search "hmmm yourname", you will get interesting search results.
- I can bear hot but not cold.
- That's why many notice in my photo collection that I may be wearing a sweater or jacket but nobody else in the photo.
- Next destination I have on my radar for a trip is Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh.
- I must tell everyone who is reading this that North East is a beautiful place and don't fear of making a visit to this part. If you think you are safe in your place then you are mistaken.
- It is better than the unlawfulness in other parts of India, the violence in North East are magnified because news channels show news from NE only when there's a bomb blast. They never broadcast news of other happenings in NE, but a god figure seen on a tree in some place is news for them.
- Its high time the centre takes proper development programs for the NE. Our PM Dr. Manmohan Singh comes from the constituency seat of Guwahati, so people of the region would like him to work in this direction with some partiality.
- The days of neglect for the NE will be sure a thing of the past and time has come to showcase NE.
- Listening to "Kitni haseen zindagi hai" by Lucky Ali.
- I have a question: Why most blogs I read are from Bombay/Mumbai?
- If not, they are from US.
- Sometimes I have prejudice against persons/things, amazingly later they turn out to be of my liking.
- Its been 7 months since I've been to Assam.[:-(]
- Feeling like quitting at 75.
- My height is 5.11 feet and weigh 65 kilos.
- My rooms in college were 111, 202 & 131; each a palindrome. The 202 actually caught fire last year. I was the first to notice the smoke around midnight and started calling everyone to evacuate the hostel, only to my neighbor pointing to my ventilator to say it was my room that was on fire.
- I want to see Argentina play a world cup final from the stands.
- I want to see India playing in the Fifa world cup during my lifetime.
- Last book that I didn't like: VS Naipaul's "Half a life".
- Last treat that was a disaster: TTMM (tu-tera-mein-mera) i.e. self treat at Franks in Jamshedpur. There was one exception though and he has got his own reasons to like the food at Franks.
- Have I ever performed a dance on stage? Yes, alongside my brother on 'tu cheez badi hai mast mast'. He was a very small kid and was afraid of performing alone. Naach naa janu par bhai kaa kartavya nibhaya.
- I have also done a group dance on a Sambalpuri song, folk dances are easy though.
- I have been in the stage round of Mr.Personality contest during Utkarsh'04 & '05. Though I flopped on stage. Third time I filled a form for a friend & the entry was selected for the stage round, which didn't happen for the lack of time.
- I was born in the winter of 1984 & there's a book called 1984, will read it when I get my hands on it.
- Last movie I saw: Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai.
- Slowly inching towards 100 with such trivial facts.
- Shaadi se yaad aaya, in the last two months I have got around 10 spams to join a particular 'rathi' matrimony yahoo group.
- It seems my joining will only be in September, so I think I'll go to the 50 blog posts mark before turning a professional.
- Lav-Kush went by a well in a village and Lav fell into it, why? coz 'Lav is blind'. Then Kush also jumped into the well why? coz 'Lav ke liye saala Kush bhi karegaa'.
- I am into the 'nervous nineties' and at 100 I am sure, will be out.
- I love the anchors of Indian Idol Mini Mathur & Hussain.
- It might have crossed your mind that till now that I have been talking only of the past & the present. For the future yes there are dreams & aspirations. That I want to keep for myself.
- I just thought of a good idea. wicked, I am wicked..what a top ka is my plan..my badlaa..
- The origin of this Tag is Shayon, so as an acknowledgment to us who bear the long hours in front of the monitor, I ask you to write a paragraph on our personalities based on our 100 points and post it on your page.
- Man ko shaanti mili.
- I would like to dedicate this post to Rathindra's patience who always stood beside me and still is, to take me to 100 mark; to my PC & Sony Ericsson K510i without whose support this wouldn't have been possible and finally to my mom who gave me the mugs of coffee and snacks to keep going throughout the day.
- Q: So Rathindra how do you feel on nearing completion of this Tag business? A:I think my mind really played well, aah the weather was not overcast so it helped me to keep batting through the afternoon without a nap and as a whole it was a team effort. Thank You.
- So that's it from the RRC desk, dont catch me again same place, some time on this Tag business.
- Thank you for bearing with me.
- Before I say goodbye, I'd like to Tag Raj & Jammy.
PS: For Raj & Jammy for inspiration..
wo pradeep jo dikh raha,
jhilmil duur nahi.
thak kar baith gaye kyun bhai,
manzil duur nahii.
